Sustainability at Core, ITD Cementation and TATA Projects Commit CSR Funds for Green Development
MUMBAI, February 24, 2017 /PRNewswire/ --
New Infra to Make Mumbai Clean and Green
Preservation of ecology and harmonious integration of sustainability goals in project execution are the guiding principles of TATA Projects. "Sustainability is at the core of all our actions," said Mr. Vinayak Deshpande, Managing Director, TATA Projects. The company is engaged in construction of Mumbai Metro Line - Ph3 Project, in joint venture with ITD Cementation and CEC Taiwan, named as CEC-ITD CEM-TPL Joint Venture (JV).
The JV is constructing Mumbai Metro Line 3, Package 4, running through the iconic neighbourhood of Siddhivinayak Temple, Dadar Station and Mahim. The entire section is underground. The JV has been mandated for the design and construction of 3 underground stations and 6 kms of associated tunnels.
To ensure that the ecosystem is continuously maintained, the company will ensure replantation in the neighbouring areas. This shall be actively undertaken with full commitment and within the direction of the contractual obligation. The JV would want to accomplish even more than such contractual requirements. The team deployed for project execution has international experience in markets like Singapore and is bound to follow world-class methods of construction similar to those followed across South East Asia, with a strong ethos for environmentally sustainable project development. The JV is bound to follow world-class methods of construction in its implementation likewise in Mumbai.
TATA Projects is sensitive to biodiversity and the environment in which it operates, and takes utmost care to protect the same. This year about 20,000 trees were planted by TATA Projects at various project sites. A unique 'Green Thumb' initiative, rolled out by the company in 2016, integrated the company's tree plantation efforts while creating awareness about the environment on social media. Employee volunteering for these efforts has lasting benefits while serving a larger regional purpose. All these initiatives of TATA Projects are integrated with the overall efforts of the TATA Group. TATA Projects also plans to spend its CSR budget to undertake developments of public interest in the vicinity of the project.
ITD Cementation, a subsidiary of Italian-Thai Development Public Company, Thailand, is a leading construction company engaged in the infra space for over eight decades. It shares similar commitment to preserving the ecology and environment. CEC Taiwan, too has the same commitment.
The Mumbai Metro Project itself is a long-needed requirement for the people of Mumbai - it shall reduce time and vehicular pollution while aiding businesses to thrive. It is a people's project aimed at reducing congestion and putting Mumbai at par with other global progressive cities like Singapore and London.
