Arpana Trust is engaged in an intensive, multifaceted community development program for inhabitants of Gautampuri, a slum resettlement colony in South Delhi since 2002

TechnipFMC tied up with Arpana Trust to provide education support for school going slum children to prevent drop outs and improve academic score of children. Project scope entails:

  • Promote quality, interactive and participatory based learning to children up to class V
  • Regular training and capacity building of teachers/educators to ensure provision of quality education to children
  • Ensure zero drop school drop out of students through regular tracking, monitoring and parent teacher interactions
  • Fostering talents, creativity and self-confidence through theatre, dance and music workshops and participation in cultural events that strengthen cross cultural harmony and empathy
  • Promoting a habit of reading and love for books through library activities
  • Computer literacy from std. II onwards

Commenting on the initiative, Swayantani Ghosh, Communication & CSR Head, Technip India said, "According to National Family Health Survey, it is estimated that only 36-37% children are completing primary school. In partnership with Arpana Trust, we aim to ensure quality primary education tuition support and overall holistic development of marginalized children of the community at Gautampuri. A strong base will help the kids to cope up with middle and high school program and thus, reduce dropout rates. Education is perhaps the only means for these children to advance themselves for higher studies leading to a dignified and quality life."

Over the years Arpana's commitment towards the slum children is reflected in the success of its students completing schooling. The project will ensure that all beneficiary children get access to age-appropriate quality education and mentoring resulting improved academic performance.
